Bring the warmth of Oaxaca into your home with our Caritas de Barro Trio, a set of three handmade red clay jars crafted by the women of San Marcos Tlapazola.
Each piece is sculpted from barro rojo, a naturally rich red clay found only in this Zapotec region of Oaxaca. The iconic “carita” face design represents the human bond with the earth — each expression unique, each vessel full of character.
These jars are not only beautiful, but also functional:
Use them to store salt, herbs, or spices in your kitchen; hold incense or small candles on your altar; or simply display them as collectible pieces of Oaxacan art.
Every set is handmade by María’s family, who continue a pottery tradition passed down through generations. Unglazed and burnished with river stones, these pieces carry the earthy sheen of fire and time.
